You’re absolutely right, I do need a much better understanding of CODECS and compression types. I have been always just exporting with no compression. Sounds like for many of my purposes, exporting using the DV compression settings would be best. It doesn’t seem to be rendering any faster, but at least I get more managable file sizes.
And for my workflow, when I use PPro and AE together, I do often import AE comps onto my PPro timeline, and vice versa. However sometimes I hesitate to do this because if I’m going thru multiple exports (drafts) for client approval/revisions, its much slower to export if I havn’t pre-rendered my AE work and imported it as as footage.
