Did you find that you needed to use other software to clean it up, or the keyer can be relied upon for most jobs? For me, it’s about not spending more money unnecessarily. Although I am more of a beginner, I want to purchase with an eye to the future on the front end. Thanks for responses.

One thing not mentioned in this thread that I think valuable is that Premiere Pro CS5/5.5 has the Ultra keyer which is also quite good. It’s not as good as Keylight, but it gives you a lot of control and it’s real-time!

Download the trial and give it a go to see if it works for you.

I will also second and third the idea that understanding how to key is very important. I always go back to some tutorials to brush up when I actually need to do something hard with keying.

Yeah, I forget about Ultra being included in CS5 after being on hiatus for CS4. I remember trying to buy Ultra as a stand alone after right after it was bought by Adobe. Was sold out every where. Was impossible to get a hold of. Had it for my PC before it died and I switched over to MAC and loved it.

With that said, I used Motion 4 to do a ton of keying and found it pretty easy as long as things were well lit.
