June 21, 2011 at 2:33 pmwe should probably just be patient, this is all very “version 1”
at least it works in parallel with FCP7
so by the time FCPX.xx5 comes out and fixes stuff, we will all be quite familiar with it.
still… with all the tapeless vibe this app has, and the 4K support, one would expect it to work natively with R3D files…

June 21, 2011 at 2:36 pmBottom line folks, they demoed everything there is to see and know about FCP X at the sneak peek. That was it. And truthfully, from all the recent leaks, that’s all that I thought was coming. Why would people post screenshots of of basically the same thing we saw at the demo? Cuz there wasn’t anything else to show.

They’re not expecting us to shell out 495 bucks just to get OMF export are they Gary? …Gary?!?

June 21, 2011 at 3:07 pmMy guess is Boris will have something out a lot cheaper than AD before long. Economics being what they are, if there’s a need and only one super-expensive product to meet that need, others will jump in to compete for that business.

June 21, 2011 at 3:32 pmJust read your article on MacWorld and was thinking I know that Gary guy. So I cruise over to the Cow and sure enough, one and the same.
I’m mostly shocked that this version cannot open FCP7 files.
How much faster is this version though. Should I blow $300 to use it on small to mid-level projects? Will it make back the money I spend on it?Tech-T Productions

I cannot answer that, Professional output options have always cost more money, be it in software or hardware, all of that will come in the future.
This is the 1.0 version of this app and frankly there is so much in here I have been writing my ass off for more than a week just to compile some of the info.

June 21, 2011 at 3:55 pm[Stephen Bakopanos] “They HAVE to keep us informed. I’m not going to wait for an unknown period of time for an unknown set of features. That’s just madness.”
That would not be Apple.
The reality is there will be users that jump ship, a couple of large broadcasters have started testing other NLEs.
I am going to say that I had the same reaction at first.
