That’s odd. I can play material pretty well at half- and I don’t have a RedRocket!

I take it you’ve tried to problem solve this via RedUser.net?

What else is in your machine?

Can you get full debater playback outside of fcpx?

    [Jeremy Garchow] “debater”

    Freudian slip.

    I meant debayer of course.

David Battistella chimed in on my REDUSER post.

It looks like you can only play in HALF during edit mode and utilize FULL at rendering.

On that note maybe they should have warning or grey out the High Performance option in Prefs.

    Such a tease 🙂

Its all good. I can play in HALF during edit in FCPX.

RCXPRO plays well in all modes so no issues there.

    Next test is RESOLVE.

    Thanks folks for replying 🙂

Lack of full debayer playback is a lack of hardware power, most likely.

Even though the Redrocket does the full debayer, it’s up to the rest of your computer to transport those huge frames across the PCI bus (assuming it’s not saturated), get them to the GPU, scale them down in real time, and then pump out to the display.

    Lot of ifs.

Sounds like it but I did test this on a few beefy systems with multiple Quadro 4000s in a CUBIX.

    Still no go.

RED support asked to shut off Background Render.

    That didnt work either.

    Eric,

Out of curiosity, can you describe your set up? Assuming you have a 4k monitor to want 4k output, so beyond that wondering what other pieces you use. RED is very CPU intensive short of a RED Rocket cannot playback 4K at full in Premiere Pro. I can get half without a Rocket but that’s on a beefy PC.

    Thanks,
    Dennis – Adobe guy.
