Alright! When rendering 1920×1080 this is what Activity Monitor Displays:

FCP is using 29 Threads and Average 1.6 GB Real Mem
    It uses 358% CPU Average

    65% By the User
    25% By the System
    10% Idle

    Hi Chris,

[Chris Morlang] “It uses 358% CPU Average”
IF FC shows a very low use of the CPUs that means that somewhere (System, drivers, plulgins..) there is something preventing FC working properly.
In your case FC is using all the 4 cores so is working fine.

The problems are on the time-line.

[Chris Morlang] “It was originally set to DVCPRO HD when I started I changed it to AppleProRes to get 1920×1080(square pixels) instead of 1220×1080 (non-square pixels) but then my render times went through the roof.”

Elaborate this change on size/pixels aspect, please.
Is your sequence 1920×1080 SQ pixels?
Is your footage 1920×1080 SQ pixels?
If so, does the footage in the time-line has “Size100%” and “Distort > Aspect Ratio: 0”?

    > Elaborate this change on size/pixels aspect, please.

    It used to be:
    Frame Size: 1280×1020
    Aspect Ratio: HD (1280×1020) (16:9)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD (1280×1080)

    > Is your sequence 1920×1080 SQ pixels?
    Yes it is 1920×1080 Square.

    > Is your footage 1920×1080 SQ pixels?
    Yes it is as well.

    > If so, does the footage in the time-line has “Size100%” and “Distort > Aspect Ratio: 0”?

    Yes it does
