July 27, 2007 at 2:32 pmBack in the olden days, long before Expressions, I used Sphere and Cylinder to do snowfalkes, leaves and feathers. A leaf wrapped around a Cylinder layer can be animated, with some care, to have truly convincing aerial ballistics. Doing it in 3D is more of a challenge.
Nowadays you could use Shatter and Foam, too, but those require precomping movies to become the particles. A bit of a challenge for noobies.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

July 27, 2007 at 10:29 pmI’m confused about why you need to mask anything. It sounds like this is a top down perspective of photos floating to rest on a flat plane? Where does the masking come in?

July 30, 2007 at 2:32 pmSorry, I didn’t explain that properly, I want to use a mask because I don’t want the full picture showing. When the picture is first shown, it either zooms in/out or pans left/right/up/down (for a nicer effect then just a static photo). That is why I need a mask, I am using an alpha matte for the “mask”. With the shape layer as a parent to the photo layer.

May 3, 2017 at 1:41 amHi there.. ate there any expressions that you know of that can be applied for a layer that falls from behind the camera to a flat surface and not from the top of the frame. I.e. I imagine the scale of the layer would be animated instead, and how to stop the expression after it gets to the size you want it.
