It looks like Resolve was simply trying to render to a full drive…

    Cleared the drive. Problem solved.

Still curious how to get render speeds of above 20fps…

    🙂

Don’t use the quadro 4000. It’s really quite slow.

If I understand well – rendering from Resolve is all CPU horsepower … not GPU dependent …

So graphics cards do not help with rendering. Is this correct?

    I have a 2009 8 Core MacPro with 14 GB of Ram, a Red Rocket and a Quadro4000.

I am rendering a Red project using Full Res Premium decode to 1920 x 1080.

How can increase render speeds? Obviously a 12 core will help. Anything else?

The only processing done on the CPU is the codec deco/encode. All image and color processing is done on a gpu. In your case the rocket is debayering the r3d so even that is done off the CPU. The q4000 is definately your bottle neck.
