External Hard Drive

Hi,
In all the LaCie Porsche boxes, there is actually a big piece of paper (on top of the drive) stating that the drive comes formatted as FAT 32. It also states the 2 options for Mac and Pc users (HFS+/NTFS).

All the d2/Big Disk/Bigger Disk/Biggest F800/S1S/S2S come formatted for Mac.

It’s always good to read nice things 🙂

In regards to a comment made about fan (somewhere in the thread), here is an FYI. LaCie has started to ship last month the 4th generation of d2/Big/Bigger. In order to accomodate for hotter 500GB mechs, they all have a unique cooling system with thermal foam and on some models a smart fan with automatic variable speeds (Big Disk 1TB and all Bigger Disks).

Hi Mat,

Thanks for the info about the updated drive fans and such. I’ll be in the market for another LaCie 1Tbyte Disk soon, so I’ll keep that in mind. I just recently added a LaCie 500 Gbyte Bigger to my growing collection but it has no fan at all. Let’s hope it runs as well as the ones that Walter Biscardi used for his article that can be found here at the Cow.
