    Another possible quick fix:

    Split up your media. Put some of the frequently accessed media on all the drives. That way they’re all busy at frequent intervals and won’t get a chance to sleep.

    Once you get past this problem, consider getting a SATA RAID with hot-swappable drives. They’re fast and, in the long run, cheaper than firewire drives.

    Thanks – I was thinking the same thing.
    Wondering if a Firewire Hub might help too…

    Ah, SATA…if only. I’ve bought or caused to have bought some 20 of these Segate Firewire/USB Hard drives and it’ll be a while before I can justify swithching them all out.
    I’m wondering also if i need to update the firmware on the drives or get upated drivers for the drives….doubt it, but who knows.
