August 6, 2009 at 4:53 pmAre you compressing using CS4? If so you will get poor results. Render lossless and do your compression in QT.

August 6, 2009 at 6:10 pmI just did this, converted a mpeg to wmv by exporting it in QT and it works/looks great with one big problem—it is cropping off the last 10 seconds or so from the video! the original mpeg video is 35 seconds and the exported wmv video is only about 20 seconds! I can’t figure out why this is happening… Any ideas? Thanks!

August 6, 2009 at 6:30 pmI know if you haven’t purchased a license key it cuts the video off in half. Double check that your correct serial # is in the preferences.

June 29, 2010 at 2:22 amHi, Im a very new user to AE and am having this problem…I purchased QTPro and entered the new registration but the export to wmv still cuts it in half.

August 15, 2011 at 2:39 pmNot to sure if this would work with mac. But I found that exporting an UNCOMPRESSED AVI then import in AE to export as WMV with 10,000 bit rate and 100 percent quality did the trick. MPEG did okay but avi version came out better, at least this round.
WMV’s are tricky.

October 19, 2011 at 10:36 amIm new to After Effects and video. A client I am working with needs a WMV file format sized to 723×570. I am exporting the file form AE at 723×570 and then I am trying to export it through Quicktime PRO with Flip for Mac as a WMV however it seems to be stating the Normal size in the aspect panel as 657×570. Im a bit confused, could anyone shed any light on why the video is resizing or what I need to do to export it as at the required size? The format size in the inspector window is Apple Animation, 723 x 570 (657 x 570), Millions.
