November 7, 2006 at 9:10 pmUntil you have compulsory voting on a weekend with lots of polling booths and preferential voting, the USA can never claim to be ‘democratic’. In what other country can voting Green get a Republican in?
Even then, like here in Australia, the government is only as good as its opposition. But please get out and vote. Don’t let the Apathetic party win again.

November 7, 2006 at 9:28 pmJust got back from a pretty good rainstorm going on here to vote. So why is it that rainy days cut down on the turnout? What else is there to do? You’re stuck inside, might as well go vote. Geez, people would rather stand in line on a beautiful sunny day and stare out the window than stand in line on a lousy day when you don’t want to be out there anyway?
Never could figure that one out. Snow? Yeah. Sleet? Yeah. Rain?

November 8, 2006 at 12:44 amI’m pissed. I just moved to SoCal and re-registering to vote was one thing that slipped my mind. Monahan? First election I’ve missed in a long time. Ah well, in California it’s a snore anyway.

November 8, 2006 at 1:15 amI voted. And I believe that if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain because YES…your vote counts. If the person I didn’t vote for gets into office, I can complain. If the person I did vote for gets into office and does something I don’t like, I can complain.
If you didn’t vote and you complain, I tend to not give your arguements weight because you didn’t take part in the process. But this is a free country…do what you want.

November 8, 2006 at 5:26 pmYES, you can complain all you want in any case. Free country. But don’t you give higher credance to someone complaining about someone they voted for vs. someone they voted against? There’s gonna be an “I told you so” in there somewhere!
Now if someone says all the candidates are crap, but they they vote for one and continue to complain about that candidate it’s the same principle. Whereas they could say “see, told ya so” if they didn’t vote for anyone.
Anyway, it was just a rant from George. Rants from comedians seem to make more sense live. Kinda like promises from candidates.
