March 2, 2010 at 7:41 pmPerhaps it is in “Advanced Options”?
I don’t have a DHR-1000 so that is about all I can help. -

March 2, 2010 at 7:52 pmunfortunately the option is not under “advanced options”. would you mind stepping me through dubbing to DV tape then capture from the DV dub. if you can be as specific as possible that would be amazing.
thank you so so much for your help!

March 2, 2010 at 8:06 pmPress play on VHS.
Press record on DHR-1000.
When dubbing is complete just capture like you would any other DV tape into FCP. -

March 2, 2010 at 11:10 pmOn the DSR-11 and DSR-40, if you try and copy a VHS with copy protection (Macrovision), the deck will refuse to go in to record, and I suspect might not allow the E-E mode. Are the tapes you are attempting to digitize copy protected?

March 3, 2010 at 11:20 pmIt shouldn’t matter what channel the tuner on your VHS deck is set to, but it might be cleaner if it was set to one of its line inputs. The input on the DV deck, with the set up you’ve described, should be S-Video in.
If you press the record button on the DV deck, it should force the machine in to E-E, passing the signal through via the firewire cable. I am not familiar with the deck you’re using, however, so that could be wrong.
And as I said on my earlier post, if you are attempting to send through anything with Macrovision or the like, it is very likely the circuitry in the DV deck is seeing that, and not allowing you to capture anything.
