Recapture IS the way to fully “recover” video/audio clips.
Any other method will take much more time and and be probelmatic (if not toally useless) when it comes to actually being able to USE the clips even after they were “recoverd” by software.

June 13, 2005 at 8:23 pmThank you so much for the very helpful reply–I immediately started recapturing my clips, and now everything’s wonderfully as it ought to be! That timecode stuff really is awesome.
Thank you!

December 20, 2013 at 2:04 amLet me tell you how a hard drive works.
It puts files on the drive, they exist until the file system says that space on the drive is now available for new data to be written to. So this is how a normal delete occurs, it just allows that space to be overwritten.
So technically the deleted files can be recovered using special software that directly reads the 1’s and 0’s of the bits on the drive itself, not what the file system is telling it.
However the longer you use the machine, the more chances that deleted data can be overwritten, and most certainly will occur if you surf the web and download software, however likely only partially since you deleted a lot.
So the object is to boot the computer from another drive or disk, then install data recovery software ($100) and recover your files not to the same drive (less it overwrite the unrecovered files) but to another external drive.

March 29, 2014 at 11:08 amYou can restore your system in order to recover your files with the help of time machine backup. But if you have already tried restoration and still unable to recover your files then you should better look for any third party tool to recover all your lost files efficiently.
