April 11, 2012 at 7:11 pmwell you know what – at least they’re trying. the pro apps creative place having three year old case study stuff was pretty dispiriting. that looks a lot better, and hearing of two full bore for broadcast post facilities (or one soon to be) going with X in one day is almost a reality overload. It feels like getting indisputable proof of alien life or something.
FCPX badly needed this kind of affirmation.

April 11, 2012 at 7:15 pmTake a look at our new tool X2Pro (https://www.X2Pro.net) for moving projects from FCP-X to Pro Tools and Nuendo.
We take tha FCP-X XML and create an AAF with embedded audio.
Plenty of real world testing and a new version 1.1 just around the corner.
You’ll find mentions in the recent Apple articles: https://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/in-actionChris Steele

April 11, 2012 at 7:31 pm[Aindreas Gallagher] “absolutely – its weird the effect just looking at that page has.”
Aindreas, I’m pretty sure they’d offer you your own “In Action” page if you hopped on the bandwagon…

Very interesting — the @radical.media story mentions finishing FCPX jobs on Smoke. I didn’t think that was doable yet…
“This guy, Marc-Andre Ferguson, was talking about it back in Nov 2011 in Boston. It’s about 8:30 in. He mentions using Resolve as a go-between or x27. He also says they are working on in-program solution for Smoke, which I’m guessing is what this announcement thing is.

April 11, 2012 at 9:52 pmThe gear-list on Apples site doesn’t make sense.
iMac
MacBook Pro
OS X
Final Cut Pro X
Xsan
Intelligent Assistance Sync-N-Link X
Marquis Broadcast X2Pro Audio Convert
Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve
Avid Pro Tools
RED ROCKET cardThey mention RED ROCKET, DaVinci as well as ProTools and they really think the company doing this high-end work wouldn’t be using a few MacPro’s? All those more or less require that machine.
Good to see FCPX is getting into the spotlight at Apples site.

April 11, 2012 at 9:58 pmIt is highly likely that both Da Vinci and ProTools are running on grunty WIN boxes. Why assume that they are on the same machines as the edit. A facility like this would have grade and sound post in totally different rooms with whatever hardware best works for them.
The lack of mention on an Apple site suggests WIN boxes to me. Room for a Decklink and a few Red Rockets and a couple of graphics cards. Oh the joy of a six PCi slot motherboard with built in esata.

April 12, 2012 at 2:45 pmWell I’m cutting an Imagine (BBC1 ‘flagship arts doco’) in June on the Titian paintings the UK gov just bought and there’s no f@!?king way in hell I’d consider using that half assed toy.
So there. -
