Paul apparently you’re right about slight wrongs = failure. But for some seven years or so now the only way I’ve gone to tape is by hitting the assemble button in the ETT window. I didn’t even know the assemble overlay window even existed until Jeremy’s post earlier in this thread. Perhaps then Mark is also correct in thinking there’s something amiss in this latest version of FCP.

As Paul says, using the buttons is more difficult. It is way more reliable to drag the sequence from the browser. It works every time. This is how I have always done an ETT in FCP, and this ‘functionality’ has been going on for as long as I can remember in FCP. You shouldn’t have to nest your sequence before laying off, unless the sequence you are nesting is an odd format/codec/frame rate and you are nesting it into a standard video space.
