January 30, 2007 at 3:11 pmWhat was missed in the MXO comments is that it simultaneously sends the laptop’s (or desktop’s) DVI signal to both a DVI-configured LCD or plasma, as well as sending SDI to a video monitor. The SDI signal can be SD, HD or downconverted HD>SD. It is 8-bit mastering quality. Output video signals can be SDI (with embedded audio) or analog in various flavors. So this makes MXO a great match for P2 media, since HD videotape ingest isn’t needed.

January 30, 2007 at 5:06 pm[joslyn20] “which 42″ panasonic plasma do you speak of? just checked your profile but didn’t see a model#. thanks!”
The TH9 model that’s the sister to the one I own now. I know I need to update my profile as we’ve gotten some new stuff in here.

January 30, 2007 at 5:10 pmI second Walter in that the Panasonic Pro Plasmas look amazing and have enough settings to allow you to adjust everything in the smallest details. But a 42″ Panasonic plasma is hard to carry around. It’ll be great for your edit suite, Andrew, but not for a field monitor.

Just send your car to those guys at “Unique Whips” on the Speed channel and they’ll set it all up in the back of the car. You really don’t need those seats. 🙂
but if you’re looking for a field monitor, then the Panasonic 1700W LCD is the way to go.

Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? And seats? No. I prefer careening down the interstate fast lane strapped to milk crates. Makes me feel closer to the edge, you know? Plus a 42 incher just isn’t good enough for my car, I need the full 103″. Seats were not all we had to remove to fit that ‘beauty’ in there.

That’s nice, you can share your work with other folks as you drive down the road and blind them with your demo reel. ha ha!

January 30, 2007 at 5:48 pm[Andrew Rice] “Am I correct in assuming that I can link the “firestore” to my Media drives via firewire and transfer footage?”
Absolutely. Focus Enhancements makes a Firestore drive for this exact purpose.
