February 18, 2009 at 1:53 amHi,
I was referring to the Sequence Settings window where I chose the “Load Sequence Settings” button on the lower left, and indicated the Kona LH’s preset for DVCProHD 1080i60 — so yes, sequence preset.
This is from memory — I am at home and do not have the editing computer in front of me.
Thanks,
Graham. -

That’s an independent setting that will have nothing to do with re-setting FCP to properly set up for DVCPro HD playback via the Kona. You have to reset FCP completely for DVCPro HD 1080i/60 in order for the downconvert to work correctly in the Kona Control Panel.
Then you have to ensure that your Kona Control Panel is set up correctly for the two formats. The HD format and the SD Downconverted format. Again, this is covered in the FAQ’s and I believe Shane Ross has a complete tutorial here on the Cow on downconverting.

February 18, 2009 at 3:51 pmHi,
well, I think part of my problem was just needing a restart. When I came in this morning the AJA control panel worked perfectly, and finally the “Crop” setting worked as intended.
Then I followed your advice and used the LH DVCProHD 1080i/29.97 Easy Setup — and it works like a charm! It even lets me continue to render in ProRes HQ, and downconvert beautifully to SD 4:3.
Many thanks for your help — it was in the nick of time.

February 18, 2009 at 3:53 pmNOW you’ve got it! The first few times you use that downconversion process it can be a bit tricky, but it’s a great time saver and it really does work well.
Glad we could help.
