September 22, 2008 at 10:46 pmNo, I’ve got an hour or so of this 30p footage that will end up as six 30 second ads. The aliasing isn’t so noticeable in all the footage, but in some shots, like this one, it’s not pretty.

September 22, 2008 at 10:56 pm[Jeremy Garchow] “I selected the AJA kona 8 bit to dv50 easy setup, and made a new sequence. I changed the clips field order to ‘none’ and droppped it in the timeline, then with the timeline selected, I hit command-0 to bring up the seq. settings and changed the field dom to ‘none’ there as well.”
I just repeated this. When I changed the sequence field dominance to “none” it made an immediate improvement in the FCP canvas but none whatsoever in the Kona SDI output.

September 23, 2008 at 7:38 pmAfter spending 2 plus days on this “problem” the only conclusion I can come to is that DVCPRO50 30p is, by it’s very nature, going to have UGLY aliasing in some scenes. On with the edit! Thanks much to Jeremy and Wayne who took time to help out. You guys put the “MOO” in the cow!

September 23, 2008 at 8:47 pmI haven’t had time to look this up, but there a thin and thick setting in the camera that you might want to check out. Sorry for leaving this so open ended, but when I get a chance I will look up the correct settings.
