I’m getting a clear picture now, thanks. So even people who create their own QT plug-ins like the one I use ‘Microcosom” They have to pay a fee to Apple for doing that? People can’t just create their plug-ins?

[izoneguy] “We use it just for that purpose…
Using DVCPRO HD files in AE on a PC.”

I’d like to edit in FCP using DVCProHD, export DVCProHD files to a format I can use on a PC, treat that file in After Effects, then render to DVCProHD again so I can use the After Effects-treated file in FCP.

Can Raylight go both from and to DVCProHD?

Take a look at the website: http://www.dvfilm.com
It says the new version can read back to P2
so I guess that means .mxf….

I saw that, but there are multiple incompatible flavors of .mxf, and it doesn’t tell me whether I can get back to the specific DVCProHD codec that I am using with my Kona card — or if it does, I don’t understand it.

It includes P2 Maker, which lets you render back out to the P2 Card (or, to hard disk to make a P2-compatible MXF file on the hard disk).
