yes, that is the right model. You just need to add 12 drives, a 10G switch, 10G adaptors for all your computers, and someone (not Span) to configure it for you.

the 1531 is a 6 core processor and the 1521 is a quad core processor. It will not make a difference for your application as a shared storage server for video.

No trying to be a smartass here, but.
Ofc it is possible to edit over the internet. At what cost? It depends.
Since Marco seems to be on Mac only, it is perhaps harder.

HP RGS, I have loads of customers using this to edit, “inside” your shared storage at work. For all other editors connected to collaborate with your work. All you need is your edit bay at work have to run on a HP Workstation. Software is free. Remote computer from home (or where ever), can be Windows or Apple and doesn’t even have to be powerful one. Stable connection from your home is needed.

    Avid have solutions (to expensive?).

Blackbird is all over the net, editing. Not using DaVinci, but it is over the net.

Others as well. So, saying Steven and George can’t do it is wrong.

Or, is editing over the net also forced to have a third screen for video out? Then it is perhaps much more difficult. HP RGS works perfectly for assistant editors, logging or any off line work that don’t require a online/grade monitor. Producers and directors that already are on next production and just need to fix something fast.
