January 16, 2010 at 3:03 pmInteresting. Considering the amount of words devoted to and predicting the death of the business model of the trade show here on the Cow the past few years, I’m surprised that the Creative Cow would even be at NAB,with the diminished attendance and all. At any rate, I’m with Bogie on this one, I’m too busy making money to attend this year.

Ah, but by all accounts from the Vendors I spoke with, the diminished attendance actually led to BETTER attendance because all the “tire kickers” stayed home.
Instead of 40,000 or so extra folks who were just “there to be there and see what’s out there,” the folks who attended for the most part were knowledgeable folks who were ready to make purchases.
I’m looking forward to heading out this year to look in to some of the new 3D stuff that’s out there. Reading about it is one thing but the opportunity to see the gear and talk to folks actually producing 3D is going to be cool.

Make sure you say hello!”I’ll definitely be there too Peter. Certainly will be a lot easier to move around the show all four days without all the extra people there….

January 16, 2010 at 5:55 pmWalter,
I made this point in a thread on the Cow last spring, how my experience was greatly enhanced because of diminished attendance last year, and I was criticized. I would like to be going this year but as I stated, too much paying to work to ignore.
Cheers.

January 18, 2010 at 9:37 pmIMHO Dread Zepp was much better with Tort Elvis, their original lead singer. Gary Bibb was the lead singer on the disco stuff that Mark mentioned. I quit following them some time ago. They are not to be confused with Lez Zeppelin, which is a current tribute act of a completely different ilk.

Tortelvis is going to be at the show. In fact, he is the one that I have been talking with quite a bit — so yes, the original singer will be there.

Such as, like you would get one of the invitations, Bogie.
Dread Zeppelin is the fun part of the show but the front half is a Who’s Who that we are putting together that will have some of the top people in the industry on a panel that we are calling “taking Creative COW Magazine and making it a live event.”
There is a LOT more to this one than the band.
But it will be a great party with free food and free drinks and an awesome educational event and a closing set by Dread Zeppelin.
Way more fun than some of the others that I have read about.
Oh, and it will be free.

January 23, 2010 at 2:32 amHi Ron,
Why don’t you stream the concert?
All the COWS of the world would like to be there, but many won’t be able.
Why don’t you stream the event?

January 23, 2010 at 3:23 amWe are looking into that, Rafael, and would love to do it.
Unfortunately, so far, we have had a rough time with the HOUSE OF BLUES, as they have a policy against any kind of filming in their establishments.
We are still trying, but so far, it’s been a pretty tough negotiation.
Best,
Ron Lindeboom
