OK, I posted an idea in that thread that might help.

July 7, 2011 at 5:28 pmI also prefer disabling resample. Period.
Its muuuch better, since we use deshaking algorithms (like virtualdub DESHAKER and MERCALLI), so the video stays PERFECT, even with dropped frames 🙂
If we need to create new frames for a smoother playback, we use after effects twixtor (we have a friend that uses it in the office, as he works in cinema). We hate ghosting. Youtube viewers too. We have a group of cyclists that does long rides (the so-called ‘randonneus, or Audax’), so we need stabilized video. Mainly at night.
Imagine yourself riding a bike in a bumpy road. So you will have non stabilization (headaches to the viewers) AND ghosting because of vegas o.O.
(not to say that using a bike to everything is becoming common and common in a ‘green’ world) 🙂So, to fix this, ‘in the easy’ way:
1) right click in any take/scene, Properties – DISABLE resample. (ok, its straight forward).
2) copy this scene, select ALL scenes in the timeline, and EDIT->PAST EVENT ATTRIBUTES.
You dont need to put ‘disable resample’ in all takes.PS: be careful. Do this in ‘virgin’ scenes, because it will copy video effects and pan/crop attributes, as well.
Unfortunatelly, even in the hidden properties tab (using SHIFT while going to OPTIONS in vegas menu), it does not have ‘disable resample as default’. At least I have not found it so far.
Maybe in the version 11 of vegas. If we users asks for it (we have paid for it).
Thats it! 🙂

October 29, 2011 at 1:06 amJohn,
I know this is an old post, but if I shoot in 60fps and want to render a clip at 30fps (half speed) for slow motion, I believe it makes sense to disable resampling, in this case, correct?
I understand what you’re saying about leaving smart resampling on for most cases, but I too agree that it muddies up my footage, whether it’s 720p at 60fps or 1080p at 30fps. (I’m always rendering my project to 30fps since it’s either for DVD or the web).
When I play back my AVCHD footage in Vegas with resampling on the quality appears to be far lower than if I play it back in the AVCCAM viewer, which I assume is not doing any resampling.

Yes.

I don’t see why you would need to disable resample for 1080p at 30fps unless it is really 30.00 fps and not 29.97 fps. Otherwise it is not needed.

I can’t really comment. I’ve never shot AVCHD at 60p nor do I shoot AVCCAM.
