September 9, 2005 at 1:35 pm–split clip at freeze point and move the right clip to start of moving image.
–make velocity 100% on right clip
–drag the end of left clip for the duration of freeze. There’s NO NEED to split the clip at the freeze point. Just move where you want normal speed to resume, add two more points, and set the second one to 100%
A single velocity envelope will do the entire task WITHOUT resorting to splitting or taking snapshots or creating sub-clips. Just use the velocity envelope to do it all!

September 9, 2005 at 3:11 pmwew that saved me from pointing out that many of the processes (Multiple steps) seemed to be at least as time consuming if not more… your suggestion certainly isn’t and I shall migrate from my ‘screen capture’ process, which BTW was never time consuming considering the saved file is highlighted in the media pool after the save.

September 11, 2005 at 8:28 amAs always, You are absolutely right Edward.
I do not know why I thought that Vegas would not be able to start from where it left-off.
Tried it and yes, it does start back from the freeze-frame.Learnt something new today.

December 5, 2005 at 7:12 pmI too have tried the method of splitting the clip, disabling the Loop switch and dragging the right end. According to the Vegas 5 manual, that should work.
What I get instead is that as I drag to the right, it just reveals the rest of the clip as I drag. I do not get the notch described in the manual either. This seems sooooo simple. WHat am I missing??

December 5, 2005 at 8:46 pmWhat you are describing is correct. When you split a clip and then extend it again, it will simply reveal the rest of that clip. If you truly want it to freeze at that point, add a couple of velocity envelope points and change the second one to 0%. There’s a LOT of velocity information in Vol 1 #9 of my newsletters.
