July 15, 2005 at 7:31 pmDoesn’t work in my 4.5. Only on basic motion, scale etc. not on filters. It pastes the filter but not the keyframes.

Interesting… I used it frequently in the last week for video filters and audio filters. I’ve gotten quite attached to it. Guess I better not upgrade. ;^) TC

July 15, 2005 at 9:40 pmSorry Chris. I misread your post. I believe you are correct. The KEYFRAMES for the filters don’t paste, just the filters. My bad. TC

July 16, 2005 at 9:28 amThis thread has been a jolly-good romp, but the phrase “copy keyframes” can have a very specific meaning.
OF COURSE you can use “apply attributes”… but that just duplicates ALL of the keyframes in the entire effect (excluding, apparently, the keyframes in FILTER adjustments).
What is MISSING entirely is the nearly BASIC (some say ESSENTIAL) function of just being able to jump to a given keyframe, hitting COPY, then jumping to any other point in the clip, and being able to simply PASTE the previously copied keyframe (all settings) instantly to the new point.
This makes creating a simple PAUSE in a given move (2 identical keyframes, x distance apart) very fast and easy.
Yes, if you know EXACTLY how the move will work BEFORE you begin it, you can “work backwards”.
Yes, if you can “slice” the move into small parts and use “paste attributes” carefully you can “kind of” work around it. (Also creating a “salad” of sliced-up effects.)
But yes, if FCP designers just created the basic concept of “copy keyframe”, we could work much faster, make easier corrections, and change our minds (non-linear editing) like we have been able to do in virtually every other edit system, animation software and standalone DVE in the world.
