September 13, 2006 at 10:46 amTry DGindex (you can google to find it) – a nice free DVD to Mpeg convertor.
I just finished a project that had a lot of DVD source material & it worked great (You can even mark the In & Out of the segment that you need).Hope this helps,

September 15, 2006 at 1:16 pmconvert everything to AVI for the most problem-free editing.
Usually I capture off a DVD player – takes less time than converting one file format to another.
Or change vob to mpg and convert in Premiere. -

December 18, 2012 at 12:01 amA friend of mine has made an app called filmtrik and it is ffmpeg front end and it automates the conversion in such a way that it allows you to select whole folders and partitions. Then it searches for all kinds of relevant media files and it is extremely easy to navigate. Preview is there as well although it doesnt work on some of the codecs as it is based on quicktime components. I am talking about Mac now 🙂 so if you got windows, forget about it.
