September 14, 2011 at 4:38 pmI am running into the SAME problem that original poster did. I am trying to convert .mp4 (h264) to prores (422) so I can edit in FCP. Both Quicktime 7 and Media Streamclip can play the footage but neither can convert to pro res.
In QT7, i get a smaller file that is WHITE.
In Stream clip I get the error “Can’t Prepare the Movie”I have Perian, VLC, H264 Codec installed etc…same problems. Any ideas?

September 29, 2011 at 5:55 pmIf you really are in a jam and aren’t too concerned with a quality loss, you can always play it back in QT and then record your screen with iShowU or Screenium, or whatever. Then sync it with the audio from your original QT conversion (the one that gave you a white frame for the video).
It ain’t perfect. But it will work.
