December 12, 2008 at 5:06 pmwell they both have to be on the same dvd. They are different sequences though. We edited using our XDCAM EX at 23.98 on the majority of our sequences but our client wanted some things changed so they just went and recorded a few things in mini DV and mailed them to us, as well as another interview that we had to edit. So, a few of our 23.98 sequences have 29.97 clips thrown in. I’m pretty dumb with all this frame rate stuff…. any ideas?

December 12, 2008 at 11:52 pmEncode the 23.98 sequence as 23.98, enocde the 29.97 sequence as 29.97 and put them in different tracks from within DVDSP. You can always link them together in the autoring stage.
Make sense?

January 6, 2009 at 10:15 pmHello I’m just new to working with the Sony HDW-1800 and am having a little trouble with exports. I have a FCP6 23.98 timeline but the client is looking for a 29.97 master on HDcam. Is my only option installing the HKDW-104 pulldown board to get this result or is there something that can be done in my 23.98 timeline so I can record at 29.97?
Thanks -

January 7, 2009 at 4:15 pmCool. You can then capture your footage @ 23.98 and have the KOna add pulldown on output by setting your Video Output in the View menu of FCP to 1080i 29.97. You will have to do the tc math (from 23.98 to 29.97) of you need specific timings.
