October 4, 2013 at 2:25 pmComing back to this: I think that unchecking “Composite in linear color” does exactly what Paul and Will want with respect to dissolves in Pr CC 7.0.1. Paul or Will, if I’m missing something, please correct me.
As I mentioned in my blog post with the presets, the opacity maneuver is only needed if you want video-style non-linear dissolves AND otherwise-linear compositing.
[Ben Mullins] ” I don’t use a whole lot of dissolves anyway but I do play with different blend modes regularly, but really I just wanted to know what the check box was for!”
Using linear compositing will change the look of any partially-transparent blend.

October 6, 2014 at 5:23 amWalter, would you mind weighing in on this issue again?
I’m attempting to export from AE into Premiere. Rendering some losslessly encoded graphics with an alpha channel. The only way I can get them to composite correctly in Premiere is if I UN check “Composite in linear color”. I’m aware of how to linearize my working space in AE, but is there a way to take non-linearized AE graphics into Premiere’s default linear working space and have them correctly composite in a non-linear fashion?
