September 4, 2009 at 12:13 amI just ran across this same problem. It seems to be a bug with just the Color Smoothing filter and not the keyer.
Go into the Video Processing tab of the Sequence Settings window and switch “Render all YUV material in high-precision YUV” to “Render in 8-bit YUV”. That seemed to take care of the problem for me.

I’ve ben reading the thread again.
The think is that it doesn’t makes sense applying a 422 Chroma Smooth filter in footage that is already 422.
You use it in 411/420 footage. In 422 footage (DVCPro50/HD) makes sense a Chroma Smooth 444 filter if you want to see any improvement .
