The MXO works on other monitors too, like the Dells…but they are better on the ACDs because the refresh rate on them is 59.94…matches HD. The Dells are 60Hz. The MXO wasn’t designed with the ACD specifically in mind.

I just had to clear the air on that.

I have the 37″ Aquos 37D62U as a client monitor and, out of curiosity, set it up with my Eye-One calibrator (used for monitor calibration for print work). It provided a fairly close match to the SONY CRT but, didn’t have the same gamma response (relationship between the darkest RGB to the lightest). I too agree that it can be useful for color correction in addition to the pro monitors. If the public will view it on a LCD or plasma, shouldn’t we be previewing on the same?

Check this out if you’re interested in the Eye-One. BTW, You’ll need a Kona or Blackmagic card to set up the video monitor.

get a Gretag Macbeth Display 1, and buy Calman software…then you have to find out how to calibrate your grayscale, then you can correctly set up your whites and black level, then color…

we use Panasonic 42PZ85U plasmas in all our FCP suites to replace our Sony CRT monitors, and they are VERY accurate, you can get by with using them, but for any CRITICAL viewing, you can’t beat a CRT…

does your monitor have a Color Management solution to map your color points? I don’t think that one does…Toshibas have them (I have one at home, all set up nicely) but our Panny’s don’t, and they are extremely close to Rec 709 color space…close enough that we use them instead of the Sonys…

check our AVSForum.com for more info on calibrating consumer monitors.
