October 5, 2019 at 5:28 pmThanks for the info on closed captions.
I have a video that is pretty standard – HD 16:9.
Do you know which style I should use? Font? Color? Size?
Also, there does not seem to be any way to put a black border or “ghost box” around the CC’s in Davinci. Is that true?
This BBC page
seems to be saying I need a ghost box, and also that my srt files should be
“Arial Narrow Latin 45A 1080, with the ghost box and no outline. ”
How do I create a “ghost box?”
Thanks!

Could you give a link to this page?
Standard SRT doesn’t contain font, outline nor any other info beside html color and style settings.

October 20, 2019 at 1:12 pmJust want to take a second to add my voice that 608 captions are almost useless in today’s broadcast world. I say almost because you can either import your 608 captions into Premier Pro and convert to 708 or the distribution house can take your 608 and convert it to 708 for you. Bottom line for me is that there is always another step after building captions in DR.
Another thing is you can’t have different subtitle styles within the same timeline. For example if I want the captions at a different height on the screen or I want different size shadow boxes behind the text, it is a no go in DR. So, it could be really slick if 708 output was possible and if we had the ability to customize the captions more on the same timeline.
