Note that of the 8 leaders in this forum, at least 5 of us use AJA hardware.

October 23, 2005 at 3:42 pmFWIW, I use the decklink extreme. Strictly SD for now and mostly DV for now, but in planning to do the occasional HD project, Niche video in Atlanta informed me that I can pull my extreme card and put in an HD decklink card later, and swap back and forth as needed. They use the same drivers.
All my friends use that AJA cards and/or boxes, and they love them. If I had to have an all-in-one HD/SD solution, I’d go AJA also, but for my needs and budget, I didn’t go wrong with the decklink extreme.
Thanks,

I agree with everyone that Decklink and AJA are the way to go. YOu shouldnt have any problems with either. For Jeremy, who suggested not needing a card due to editing with DV, i strongly suggest you need a proper TV output that is in sync with the computer screens, therefore you need a capture card. YOu can watch your DV on a TV if you have a deck or some other sensible way of getting the pics out through firewire, BUT there will be a 4 frame delay which isnt really acceptable if you edit professionally, and by that i mean using sound as much as pictures…….and ‘feeling’ an edit point…..just for what its worth…..
best wishes
