August 1, 2015 at 1:32 pmI will consult with them about type of file we work with and try to insist to work with original files if only they are not to heavy so we can work on-line in the cloud – that’s very important. I am responsible for OFF LINE editing, and they are getting only project file (they got copy of the same exact MOV files) so they can work with titles, colours, effects etc. I export from Vegas to Premier project file, then Premier convert’s it from older version to the 2015 version and it works fine when the only thing in project is simple cuts/cross-fades and music without any effects. I do the trick – after recompresing their MOV to MP4 I rename MP4 extension to MOV with the same files name so Vegas is aqtually working with H.264 and it works flawlessly and when they will open Premier project file, and got the same tree of catalogues the Project will be importing their original MOV files ;p

August 1, 2015 at 1:40 pmThanks for explaining that because it’s very interesting to me. As long as you stick with cuts and dissolves I guess that workflow will work.
I’m sure they are going to want to work with QuickTime files since the project needs to have the same file names on both Mac and PC. If they can simply invest $49 in Apple Compressor and stop using Adobe Media Encoder to create ProRes files, I think everything will work fine on both platforms. Then you won’t have to do any re-compressing and renaming so you can be more productive. 😉 Good luck on your project.
