April 20, 2007 at 9:13 pm[Joe Murray] “In the failure your unit had, was the data recoverable? Or did you even bother with that since you had your backup files?”
No clue, I just shipped it back and went on with the LaCie.

April 20, 2007 at 9:18 pmJust ordered that 2TB Lacie FW800 from Newegg for $672. The Promax I have requires 8 SATA ports so I would have had to backup the CalDigit unit over the network. Thanks for the tip on the Lacie.

April 20, 2007 at 10:08 pmI’d like to add that I have the 2 Drive Duo (2 x 750) and it’s a great little unit for SD and Motion/After fX work. I like CalDigit’s ideas – I hope they get the issue worked out.

April 20, 2007 at 10:24 pmYes, I have. I have a 500GB Model that I used while travelling, editing DVCPRO HD on the road. Works great and is pretty quiet. And daisy chainable without losing performance. The G-Raid 2 drops drastically when you chain them. Same with the newer LaCies. ANd I am a staunch supporter of G-Tech.

the FireWire VR?”I was supposed to get one to test but never got one, so I honestly don’t know.
