I’ve been quite interested in that boundary where we are technically prohibited from doing what we are legally entitled to do (for example, time shifted viewing ever since the Sony Betamax court case).

For those also interested or wondering how to take action, I recommend readings from the Electronic Frontier Foundation. http://www.eff.org .

It’s always good to know what the boundaries of the laws are, to be sure you are obeying them.

I didn’t think this post would make for such comments from media pros. It is valid info, that has been discussed many times on this forum. I want to be informed more than my clients, I want to be informed more than my competition. Some of the responses sound like that French New Wave Movie where they burn the books and I didn’t think we had book burners here.

and then you might have more fully understood the signifacance of this. HD-DVD is different than Blue Ray HD-DVD because in the Blue Ray format the Key codes that are the lock can be reset to another key for protection without killing the player. HD-DVD has only one Key code possibility if I read the article correctly. So the result is that Sony’s Blue Ray is gaining favor. I will be burning DVD that are HD before the end of the year. I have cleints asking the questions. Don’t you? How do you answer them if you are not informed. My next Apple computer will have an HD-DVD burner in it and I will bet that Apple will put a Blue Ray version in it, about the end of June………

(PS: I don’t care if you own a gun, I don’t. I don’t care if you point the gun at a cop, I pay the cop to shoot you first ask questions latter. Less competition, that way)

This article is even more sad. These people should make there own movies, or maybe learn to play the piano or write a poem….. Everthing in your life should not be on a screen….
