Alex, the only other thought I have is that if you’re judging the quality by what’s in the Vegas preview window, it won’t be as good as what you see in Photoshop due to the small size.
Try a full screen preview and see if that’s any better.

I’m using Vegas Platinum 9 and it seems the program definitely is doing something to the images. Comparing the HD video of the jpeg to the source jpeg, the difference is obvious. A diagonal line becomes a jagged dotted line. At work I had an old version of Vegas Pro and never had this problem with jpegs.
