August 9, 2013 at 7:56 pmHi Jeff,
Thanks for your reply. Yes indeed there was a typing error as it should have read NVidia 2GB GTX660 Ti. Would that be a dedicated video drive or not? As I said, I am quite new to all of this.
Thanks once again.

August 9, 2013 at 8:12 pmHi Cliff,
The system spec shows a “1TB hard drive”. If that is the only drive, then that is where Windows OS and your programs are installed. You never want to keep your video assets on the C: drive, as Windows is competing for resources and will slow down the editing response greatly.
Always use a dedicated (second) hard drive for VIDEO, as recommended in the Premiere requirements (or any NLE for that matter). Should be a 7200rpm drive, and never a “green” model. High-performance only. Your project and assets can all be stored there. Optionally, some people like to add more drives, for instance Audio, Scratch, etc. but at a minimum have at least the second drive.
You can use an SSD for the C: drive, but not recommended for video, stick with a SATA drive. If you want to use an external drive for video, USB 2.0 is too slow. Go for USB 3.0 or eSATA interface. There are drives made especially for video editing that will offer better performance. Some units combine two or more drives in one housing and they are configured in a “RAID” mode for better performance and/or redundancy.
Back to the video card, the GTX 660 Ti offers good bang for the buck.
Thanks

Hi Jeff,
Between GTX-760 and GTX-660Ti, which one would you choose? Seems that GTX-760 is a little better bang for the buck?

August 9, 2013 at 8:27 pmHi Alex,
I haven’t had a chance to check out the new 760 card yet, but for the last several months the general consensus on the boards was that the 660Ti hit a sweet spot for price/performance for most users.
Thanks

November 27, 2014 at 8:43 pmHi All
Seems to be a wealth of knowledge to tap into out there!
I am having a Graphics card issue I believe. I use Premiere CC and After Effects. I recently had a Nvidia GT630 installed. Since that install i have been having issues with exports getting an error say that the GPU requires more memory that the system allows?
This is a 2 gig card.
This is my system

I have tried Adobe support who seemed keen at first but have now dropped me like a stone.
I guess I am asking the same question. What is the best card for the job?
I create quite large projects with several dynamic links to AE
I also have been recomended to a Quadro 2200 (I believe) but dont want to spend another $100 to end up with same issues.
Can anyone here help please, where Adobe and Nvidia have failed to?
