August 7, 2009 at 5:04 amHi Vince Becquiot
hope you are fine , sorry i am bothering you again , since there is an update at my end i want your suggestion again , now instead of LCD we got 20mm 40*30 outdoor screen and project will be played on it using any dvd player ( as i mentioned before ) , now would i do render all my scenes in 648×480 for 4:3 pixel aspect ratio and then edit them in adobe premiere pro using same resolution size & burn final version on dvd with same settings via adobe premiere ?Thanks 🙂

August 7, 2009 at 5:08 amYes, you would export at 648×480, then create a DV sequence in Premiere at 720×480 0.9, import the file and make sure it’s interpreted as 1.0 PAR. That should be it !

August 10, 2009 at 7:33 amthanks for responce again 🙂
ok here i didn’t get what does it mean : 648×480->720×480 if final render requires to be rendered in 720×480 then whynot initially i do render all my scenes with this same resolutions , would it not disturb quality if we render 648*480 scenes into 720*480 final output !? and why this time we are preferring DV sequence not a normal Adobe Encoding export window :S

August 10, 2009 at 7:55 pmI think you mentioned that you were only able to render to square pixel in your animation app.
Because your timeline in Premiere uses non square pixels, DV 720×480 is 0.9.
720 x 0.9 is 648, its equivalent in square pixels. And remember, that only affects the horizontal resolution.Vince Becquiot

August 13, 2009 at 5:15 amfor confirmation i set my animation scene resolution size in digital pro 720*480 and it shows me aspect ratio 1.5 with this resolutions.
So the point is i can independently set any resolution size in it but i don’t get why aspect ratios are different in premiere & my animation software, any specific reason behind this !? any suggestion ?
And what if i render my animation with same 720*480 and import it into premiere !?thanks 🙂

August 13, 2009 at 7:01 pmThe 1.5 number you are seeing is actualy the screen aspect ratio (720/480), and that’s diferent from the pixel aspect ratio.
The pixel aspect ratio has to do with how wide a pixel is versus its height. And you should be able to find that setting somewhere as well. It could say pixel aspect, or PAR, and by default should be set to “square”. If you can’t find it, assume 1.0 and choose 648×480 as the resolution.
