So, if I wanted to transcode to something smaller, would it make sense for me to create a separate offline SD project, create AMA source clips that are 1:1 in bins and then transcode them to 15:1? And then when I was finished could I bring my final seq into an online HD project to relink to the AMA clips there?
Also, when relinking to the source clips, is it just a regular clicking “relink” on the sequence, or would i have to show reference clips and relink them, or do I need to decompose the seq and then batch? or is there just a relinking option for that as well?
you might have already answered this, i just want to be sure i understand correctly.

    i wouldn’t SD the project

unless very limited in HDD space

working in DNX36 would take 800 GB for 50 Hrs of footage and work smoothly on any system (just to compare 50 hrs of DV are 650 GB)

you’ll also have good looking offlines.. in full raster HD

you could probably do the SD 15:1 thingy too…

to relink… this is how i do this

    1. make a copy of your final sequence and place it in the AMA bin (from the other answer i gave you)
    2. hide your media folder, project and sequence should become offline
(i believe this is not required, i find it to work better)
    3. reconnect the HDD with the Prores files you linked AMA to
    4. select all the clips in the bin and your sequence
    5. right click your sequence and click “relink”
    6. chose “relink to selected clips in bin” and “relink AMA…”
    7. make sure its “all available drives” and relink
    8. now your sequence should link back to original media
    9. exhale

    🙂

    do a short test
