March 26, 2019 at 5:26 pmHi Tristan,
like John Stanowski said (many thanks for that John!) your 3d view should be set to ‘Active Camera’.
In your screenshot right in the middle below the viewer you see ‘Left’ in the camera view drop-down. Set this to ‘Active Camera’ to wipe out that misterious black ????.
Regards,

November 1, 2019 at 2:24 amHi, I have the same problem. I am using keylight on videos and when I turn them to 3D layers with Cinema 4D renderer the masked areas turn black. I’ve tried all the suggestions above and cannot solve the problem. I’ve tried pre-comps, altering the light and the camera. Please help!

December 2, 2019 at 9:28 pmIve had issues with the cinema 4d renderer doing that to PSD files, try clicking on where it says Cinema 4D and changing it to the Classic 3D renderer. That fixed the PSD problems for me, might work for your problem.

December 2, 2019 at 11:01 pmThanks Max.
I wanted to use the cinema 4D renderer but I’ve had to change my project to use classic 3D. -

June 3, 2020 at 5:04 pmHello,
Had to set up an account only to continue the discussion.
I was having the same problem and altering the lightning, 3D mode and everything else didn’t help. What did help in the end was so simple I kind of feel silly.Toggle the Draft 3D icon on and off:

In my case when using the 3D in “draft” mode some files (e.g. pngs) lost their transparency.
