The update manager way of upgrading worked fine for me. There was an update to the app manager itself that i did before i tried to update the app itslef, maybe thats why you guys are having trouble. Once i updated the app manager, deactivated my license, clicked install, re activated and i was good to go.

[Eric Santiago] “Any of you folks running it with a Nitris DX?

And if you are, I take it your not using a nMP.

Pretty sure Avid has qualified the DX for use with a thunderbolt chasis.

    Mark –

You would obtain your v8.3 activation ID from the MY Account aka Master Account. Once you login you can see your Media Composer | Software line item which will have your MC 8.3 activation and if on dongle licensing the dongle updater file. The 8.3 has the new logic that once installed will not behave that way any longer and will know what you have via Appman.

Log in to your master account.
    Open My Products and Subscriptions
    Open Media Composer | Software
Expand the screen by clicking on the V
you should see your activation or dongle updater there.

If you have a dongle based system – you will see BOTH and activation and a dongle updater as dongle based licenses are able to migrate to SW licensing based systems by chosing the convert option in Appman.

HTH and sorry for taking a while to get to you – there are way tooooooo many internet sites now with people asking questions and we can’t be everywhere at once.
    you can always email me

Or you could spend more time hanging around the site with the largest number of people. 🙂
