Not trying to get into a childish argument, but the SD5 was being sold in Nov ’07. As I said, that’s when I bought it from a Circuit City store, and it was on their website as well, that’s how I learned about it. In fact, check one post you made in this same thread in Nov ’07 in which you say “I own an SD1 and and SD5, and have reviewed them both.”. The SD9, if I remember this right, was released around mid 2008.

I don’t see any insults, although I don’t agree with the tone of the poster who wrote that you don’t know what you’re talking about. I know you are an accomplished musician and videographer, but even experienced professionals can get a few facts wrong sometimes, and it’s no big deal. I wouldn’t call that not knowing your subject, just that maybe you didn’t know a couple of things, but the world keeps turning nevertheless.

Just look at the tone this guy responded to the OP with, condescension and a air of “I’m superior than you” that was borderline insulting. Not to mention questioning the OPs reasons for wanting to do a certain task instead of actually being helpful.

It was a “let me point out what I think is wrong about everything anyone else is saying” instead of focusing on their point and answering in something other than an a-holish tone.

You find it necessary to post your signature advertising your services. Don’t be surprised when someone calls you out for behaving like a boorish, unprofessional child. And your response when people react angrily to your childishness? Accusing THEM of being the very type of person you see in the mirror everyday.

You behave like an a-hole, don’t be surprised when you’re treated like one. No one responds well to ridicule, Sony Vegas Trainer, especially those that insist on ridiculing others.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself, and all that jazz.

I’d like to offer a friendly piece of advice if you have any desire to remain a member here and that is to refrain from any further posts like the one you just did.
Not only was it in response to a thread that’s almost a year old, you insulted someone who has forgotten more about Vegas than most of us will ever know.

The statement that there are no broadcasts or transmissions in true 1920x1080i is incorrect.

Perhaps cable and satellite limit more. However I can assure you with proof of fact that at least NBC, CBS and PBS transmit over the air at full 1920x1080i. The professional cameras they use are true 1920x1080i without the consumer 1440 conversion. When the sources are pristine or live HD footage, their images are superb and second to none.

Though I am kind of interested in how I would get my AVCHD footage to a news org in HD if I had to and didn’t have a hd tape deck to output to (because we don’t). We would need to output some kind of file we could ftp to them instead I would hope.
