6K… hmmm that has a nice ring to it. Trouble is every time I’ve gone to buy a laptop I’ve come home with a tower. Given I’d need a card, updated storage solution and SW update this might be a great time to go for the MBPRO. Thanks all for the input.

I am having the very same problem as Matthew…

After a few nights googling, it appears that there is an issue between OS X Leopard 10.5.5 and Perian.
I just had to uninstall Perian (from the pref panel) for everything to go back to normal.
I since have had no flickering problem while transferring AVCHD from my camera.
If this can help anyone…
