Well the math for that certainly sounds like it makes sense – double the GPU, double the performance.

What’s interesting though is that even your beefy system can’t go below 3-radius.

    Peter ,
when Resolve landed on OSX at this price i was very very skeptic about the future development of this tool …support etc…

what can i say ….in less than a year Resolve and the BMD team demonstrated to be one of the best post production tool in the market ,

i want to honestly say thank you for all have you done in such short amount of time and for listening to us so focused on our needs .

    V7 to V8 is a quantum Leap ,
thank you for that and looking forward to the future .

Thanks Peter, that’s really great news. Greatly appreciate the return of the mix mode. I’ll know now to expect the transforms a bit down the road and I won’t mention it again ;-D.

Communication is a great thing. Apple can definitely learn some lessons from you guys….

New Macpro + Lion with support for gtx480… Gtx480 has x2 cores of a 285. Lion DP4 has support for GTX480 with full features.

And I think we will see nvidia cards or cuda proccesor through thunderbolt in a near future… but this info is only my opinion.

    saludos,

    Jose.

Try right clicking next to your node tree, click apply alpha. Then draw the node to the lower box that just appeared.

Thank you so much Blase for the info.

I do a lot of green screen with resolve7 but only with mattes, and is dificult because i can’t make garbage to the matte node or a simple blur.

Can you explain a little bit more about your workflow i apreciate it a lot!. I will start a feature in september that has a lot of vfx shots and it can be my solution!! Because i need to do this basic composition with resolve.

    Saludos,

    Jose.

    Pretty simple..

    Import an XML of media
    – greenscreen on v2, background plate on v1.

On the GS layer, add a few parallel nodes.
    – Top will be grade for GS,
    – middle will be spill suppress layer
    – bottom will be base for alpha key

Right click in node graph to add an alpha output
    – little rectangle appears on right of node graph

Create a matte from the greenscreen
    – pull greenscreen on your bottom node,
    – combine alphas of multiple nodes if necessary
    – map matte output of those nodes to alpha output

    Remove green spill as necessary
    – on the middle node, pull a very liberal key on the greenscreen
    – use the curves – saturation tool to correct for spill

You now have your plates comp’d color grade them to match accordingly.
The key doesn’t do as well with hair, but for my shots it was fine. Of course you could simply use this technique as a temporary way to grade the plates and foreground, and still do your final comp as an effect.

here’s the result of my shots..
