    Cheers Jeremy –

I spotted that one (post issue!!!!), but unfortunately my Mac wouldn’t stay in a ‘non-crashed state’ long enough for me to install it with the X1900 in.

I’ll install it first thing when I get the replacement card. I couldn’t find out anywhere what the firmware update was for though…..

As a matter of interest – have you or anybody else experienced ‘heat issues’ with there ATTO R380?

No. I have been singing along quite nicely. Now that I have said that, my computer will die in a fiery ball of flames today, and I will be calling AppleCare.

It is my speculation when a company release firmware and doesn’t tell you what it’s for, it probably fixes some really major issues. THAT IS JUST MY INTERPRETATION of the subject. I really don’t know.

    Hi all,

I know this is a little off the topic, but related. I keep my G5, raids etc in an air conditioned closet off the main edit suite. I keep the temperature around 65-67F. Have never had any heat problems.

Before I did that, I found the temperature of the room would reach nearly 80F, and the resulting heat out of the machines just seemed too hot for me. How’s that for a scientific conclusion?

Kinda like the elephant dog we got. Haven’t had an elephant in the yard since we got him.

Ok, I’m back to work now.

So does this mean my Radeon XT1900XT is ‘bad”. Have had it new in the box for 4 months (purchased as an upgrade for my G5 Mac Pro. Just installed it last week between projects and got NOTHING on the monitors and no “mac boot up” sound. Put the original ‘stock’ video card back in to work on my next project to be completed this weekend and everything worked fine. Figured I needed to download some software or driver updates, OR should I just take it in to the local Mac Store?
    Thanks

Sorry for asking the obvious, but did you plug the card’s power connector into the power jack on the motherboard?

Sorry, took some time to reply. I think “yes” I plugged it into the right spot on the board that
“seemed” to fit, but took me a while. seemed hidden and hard to get to, but still could have
not gotten the plug correct. I think I may take it to one of our 2 mac stores and have them
    take a ‘shot’ at it.
    thanks,
