As sympathetic as I am to OPs plight, let’s not be so harsh on Mark either. It’s one thing to bitch about bad tech support (not sure if a response engineer will be able to magically fly through the phone lines to fix the problem, but it could be part of their certification :-), but tying in a single tech support issue with whether or not Avid editors in his shop will take FCP seriously is just a bit over the top. I don’t know how others feel, but I don’t tie my self worth as a filmmaker or an editor, into the platform I use – besides, that’s what dropping Walter Murch’s name is for. And if one of the Avid editors needs to pull out the argument “yeah, but remember that tech support issue back in Jan 06?”, then they just are never going to change their position or be open-minded about the merits of another platform anyways.
