May 10, 2012 at 10:53 pm[Andrew Kimery] “I’d rather someone come in and go “Hey, might have a problem related to XYZ” and work it out in public so other people know to be weary instead of keeping it to themselves and potentially having more people fall down the same pit.
“I second that! My preference is that if you legitimately think there might be a major SNAFU hanging about just offstage, I would rather you shout it out. We can quickly figure out if you are wrong, or there is any easy fix. Frankly, I don’t see it as being panicky or alarmist. I think of it as being kindly and prudent.

May 11, 2012 at 12:10 amX has been almost unusable on my macpro 1,1. Sluggish, constant beachball, etc. even with a new graphics card. Trying to cut a 5 cam multicam project with mixed ProRes and HDV was painful beyond belief. I figured I would simply have to get a new computer in order to use X.
Downloaded the OS update last night. Suddenly FCPX is behaving. I can actually use it. So I guess whatever Apple did to Open CL worked.

I assumed so. But, it never hurts to check.

Well, as someone who was roundly and persistently trashed for SHOUTING and generally being alarmist so many times, perhaps It’s just a minor sore point to me.
Perhaps I just yearn for the days of my “or Not” group virginity back when I could conceivably use all caps and three exclamation points – and be incorrect – and not have invective rain upon me as a deluge.
Ah, the good old days…

“Bill, I don’t think you’ve ever been trashed for warning people that there might be something potentially dangerous about files they might otherwise download. I think most people agree that shouting is appropriate when there is potential imminent danger.

“I don’t believe I EVER complained about your use of caps or exclamation points. I TEND to use them MYSELF from time to time!!!

May 15, 2012 at 11:48 amLion killed my sound control in the same way, had hoped 10.7.4 would have addressed the issue as there are many who have suffered the same – but lo-behold – 10.7.4 leaves the problem in tact. Well done Apple!
Lets hope 10.7.5 resolves the sound control issue properly.
