My last response from NB, back on December 5th, regarding my (November 16) ticket was: “Thank you for the update. I have sent the developers this updated information.” My ticket has been in perpetual “on-hold” status since then. Realistically, I don’t ever expect another response from them. Love the product, and, while the most recent NB Titler pro build does seem a bit more stable running in SVP11 build 521, I’m not convinced it’s really ready for prime time yet. I just wish they could make it work consistently, and very soon.
Operating System Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, I7 980 series six-core 3GHz proc., 24GB RAM, GeForce GTX 560 1GB GDDR5, Host Application Version SVP 11.0 (build 521) 64-bit

January 24, 2012 at 9:16 pmEd, I had a few minutes today and find that there is an update for NE, but it is asking me for a license and I can’t find a record of one anywhere. It is not listed in the product anywhere, and I have no idea how I downloaded it when I bought the Sony upgrade that included it. Any idea how to track it down? NB’s web site doesn’t seem to include a way to find out about the order that generated it for me.

January 25, 2012 at 4:07 pmI’m not sure what you’re referring to by an “update to NE”. If you’ll start a help ticket at newbluefx.com with full information as to what you need, I can help you there.
One thing to note: On bundled software, Sony distributes the serial numbers. So if you cannot locate your serial number on a bundled product, look in your packaging and e-mails from Sony and, if you still can find it, then check with Sony Customer Service.
If it was not a bundled package, the information can be looked up but we’ll need to do that in private.

January 25, 2012 at 5:38 pmThe update to NE meant that I had not updated it from 1.0 with a number after it to the latest version. I tried to do that but the serial number was *required* to upgrade. I cannot find the email from Sony that gave me it, I’ll try again today or contact Sony. It is not listed in the Sony web site where all my other serial numbers are listed. Obviously I had one to set it up in the first place. But it’s frustrating that NB does not list the Serial number somewhere on a screen as all other software packages seem to.
If I get a chance I’ll work on it today. But I have a full day of editing and will work around it as I can to get things done. At least NB works when I put it on it’s own project.
You should help them understand that by putting artificial blocks in users ways, like being unable to even load the new version without the serial number present (many other packages give you a full working version with a time bomb in them), they are simply pushing me away, and making me work around their product to get things done. I also have Adobe Afteraffects on my Mac, and if I need to get something done today that can’t be done on New Blue, I’ll simply craft it on a competing product, render it out and move it to Windows and Vegas to get my work done. That doesn’t help them, and it surely doesn’t make me feel that they are doing great customer service, beyond of course your offer of help! My thanks to you for that.

You should note that ALL of our retail products (including the retail version of Titler Pro) install in demo mode and work without a watermark for two weeks. After that, you will need a serial number to activate the product to remove the watermark. Plus, upon registering the serial number should be listed under your profile on our website.
However, in this case it is NOT a retail product. Instead, it is a bundled product in which you were given the serial number. So the serial number should be available in either your packaging or e-mail.

January 25, 2012 at 10:26 pmOk Ed I got the serial number from Sony, and tried to install. It *did* run the install scripts but gave me numerous ‘file unable to load” messages for unknown reasons even though I was installing as Admin.
This is just too frustrating for words. I have all these crashes, I am told I have to upgrade, it takes me a couple of days to get a serial number that I didn’t know I would need, and then have the install fail to load properly. I’m really not that impressed by NB…even though I love what they can do.
Any ideas?

Actually, it’s a KNOWN reason – Vegas was still running. Even if you shut down Vegas, it does not always “unload” all the way and you’ll find it still running in the Task Manager. If it is still running, those files are locked and cannot be overwritten.
The simplest solution, reboot, install the titler update, and then start Vegas. It’s not NewBlue’s fault that Vegas doesn’t unload…
