    Hello,

I’m alittle late in responding to this post but I would like to share some information on AMD machines.

I have a quad-core AMD system with a dual-boot OS option that lets me choose between the 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS (XP Pro)with 4 Italy processors each with a 1 gig front side bus. The OS’s are on individual 10,000 rpm SCSI drives and my work flow includes four 100 gig, 15,000 rpm drives in a Sata RAID 0 array that stripes across the four drives.

Vegas works almost flawlessly on the 64-bit OS which takes advantage of 8 gigs of matched, buffered ECC memory plus an additional 1.5 gigs on the Tyan motherboard. With my adjusted system cache, Vegas has access to 13.7 gigs of RAM in 64 bit mode.

The only flaw that occurs in Vegas when using the 64-bit OS is the fact that Quicktime does not work on the 64-bit OS thus creating problems when working with .MOV files either in Vegas, Boris or any other video program.

When using Vegas in the 32-bit OS, the RAM allotment is considerably smaller. Two gigs plus adjusted system cache for a total of 5.5 gigs. I have yet to experience any flaws on the 32-bit side.

I am the producer of a local, weekly fishing show televised in Nashville, Tennessee. The show, “Fishin’ Country with Tony Dodson and Rusty Rust”, airs every Thursday night at 10 p.m. on PAX-TV. The final product to the station is 28 minutes and 30 seconds long produced only with the production elements found in Vegas 6.0d. We are blessed to have the #1 Rated, Locally Produced show on PAX.

All that said, rendering the show in the 64-bit OS is incredible. Typically, rendering speeds are between 15 minutes to 17 minutes per episode. On the 32-bit, rendering the show takes between 30 minutes to 37 minutes.

I hope I haven’t over-extended this post for I have never posted anything anywhere before. Please excuse my eagerness to share so much information as I hope it is helpful.

    Sincerely I am,

    Dan Furmanik
