AJA KONA 2 bug with COLOR

Reading all these recent posts about 23.98 and drop-frame make me really glad I live in PAL-land…

Considering all of the issues I can saythis. If I select a 23.98 easy set up in FCP with 23.98 material, the material plays fine out the K2. The K2 is doing the Pulldown. If I select the same frame rate with Colr it does not play out the Kona.

I understand what’s been writen in the thread, but I wanted to mention that 23.98 playback from color does not work.

If you look at the video output in the view menu of FCP, I’d wager it’s set to 29.97, not 23.98. Since Color isn’t that smart, you just have to manually set it to 29.97.

Not sure what the problem is, it is working correctly out of color on my K2, K3x and K3e cards, using the 4.0 driver on

did you configure the kona card for output in Color?

Yep Gary. I set the Kona up in Color.

If I have DV 23.98 media loaded (pulldown removed on injest) in Color and the K2 control panel set to 23.98 and the Color prefs set to 23.98 all I see is a large sync bar in the Broadcast monitor.

If I reset them both to 29.97 it is fine. This is why I thought it was a bug, because the same media playing out of FCP with the K2 set to 23.98 and the K2 Easy setup for 23.98 8 bit is fine.
